(Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)On Thursday afternoon the college football bowl season kicked off with a battle between Temple and Duke. The Owls entered today’s game against the Blue Devils without their head coach on the sidelines as Geoff Collins left the team to take the head coaching job at Georgia Tech. That left Ed Foley as the team’s interim head coach. The move hasn’t hurt the team, as the Owls currently own a 20-7 lead over Duke after grabbing tow interceptions on the day – including one returned for a touchdown.Unfortunately for the Owls, not many are in the stands to watch the game. Here was the crowd at kickoff.Opening kickoff of the 2018 Walk-On’s Independence Bowl. #CFB #BowlSeason (https://t.co/epgXy2CWvy) pic.twitter.com/bagJ2ZznA3— Empty Seats Galore (@EmptySeatsPics) December 27, 2018Ouch.Regardless of the empty stands both teams are playing hard and hoping for a win. The game just appears to be going Temple’s way on Thursday afternoon. Can the Owls hold on, or with Duke’s NFL caliber quarterback, Daniel Jones, lead the Blue Devils to a comeback?Stay tuned.
